Begun, the Nutella Riots have.
Shoppers in France have apparently lost their minds over steep in-store discounts on the delicious hazelnut-chocolate spread. Violently so.
As a proud Italian-American, I keep Nutella on-hand at all times. It’s much more popular in Europe, where American-style peanut butter is far less common. It’s such a big deal, it has its own stamp.
So it’s basically Elvis. Riots and all.
I don’t want to make fun of this, because people were hurt. I’m also wondering if things are that dire in this French town that people are willing to maim their neighbors for a 70% discount on the high-protein spread, or if this is garden-variety human depravity.
